Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Gori ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Gori mobile app and related websites (the "Service").

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use Gori, we may collect:

  • Account data: email or sign-in identifiers and authentication tokens from your login provider.
  • Profile data: nickname, birthday or age, sex used for estimates, height, weight, activity level, goal (lose, gain, or muscle), optional target weight, and optional health notes you choose to save.
  • Meal and progress data: food logs (including text, voice-derived text, photos you upload, barcode data, macros), daily totals, weigh-ins, streaks, and related history.
  • Workout and training data: the Build you pick, your chosen train days, moves you swap, and workout and activity logs (activity name and type, duration from the timer or what you enter, estimated calories burned, and the sets, reps, and added weight you save), plus which Build session a log completed. The last target you set for a workout may also be kept on your device so the next session can start from it.
  • Location (optional): if you enable attach-location when logging, approximate place data for a meal. Logging never requires location. You can turn this off in Settings.
  • Device and usage data: app version, device type, approximate diagnostics, and subscription status needed to run billing and support. After you sign in, Gori also sends product analytics events to our backend. Those events are tied to your signed-in account (the user id from your session). Each event includes the event name, a coarse platform string from the device, a timestamp, and the funnel metadata listed below. Analytics is not a second copy of meals, photos, or precise location. We do not put email, nickname, birthday, photos, meal text, location, or payment card numbers in analytics payloads. The app also drops metadata keys or values that look like email, nickname, display name, avatar, or phone.
  • Purchase data: subscription plan and entitlement status processed through the store (for example Google Play) and our billing provider. We do not store your full payment card number.

Product analytics events and metadata:

  • login: sign-in method (for example google) and whether the account looks new. No email.
  • onboarding_started: that onboarding opened.
  • onboarding_step: step number and a coarse step name (welcome, nickname, heard_from, birthday, sex, height_weight, activity, goal, train_days, reminders, health, plan). Step name is a screen label only. It does not include the nickname, birthday, height, weight, train days, Build, or health notes you typed or picked.
  • onboarding_completed: goal type (lose, gain, muscle, or maintain) and whether reminders were enabled. No nickname.
  • paywall_opened: where it opened (post_onboarding, log, home, progress, or settings) and sheet vs full page.
  • paywall_dismissed: that you skipped, where it opened, and selected plan if known (yearly or monthly).
  • checkout_started: where the paywall opened, selected plan (yearly or monthly), and whether a free trial was offered.
  • purchase: where the paywall opened, selected plan (yearly or monthly), and whether a free trial was offered, after Gori Plus is active.

2. How we use information

We use your information to:

  • Provide calorie plans, logging, sync, trends, and streaks
  • Show your Build and the workout session for each train day, save your workout logs and swaps, and estimate calories burned
  • Estimate nutrition from the methods you choose (photo, voice, text, and similar)
  • Process subscriptions, trials, and cancellations
  • Improve reliability, security, and product quality
  • Measure the signup-to-paywall funnel and product drop-off
  • Respond to support requests and meet legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use meal location for ads or public social maps. We do not use product analytics for ads. We do not build a public profile from analytics.

3. AI and automated estimates

When you log with photo, voice, or short text, we may send the content you provide to automated systems to estimate calories and macros for you to review and edit. Those estimates can be wrong. You remain in control of what is saved.

Workout suggestions come from built-in Build content and your chosen train days. Calories burned are estimated from the activity type, the time, and your body weight. They are estimates, not medical measurements. Workout and health information you give us is used to run the app and is not medical advice or a medical record.

4. Sharing

We may share information with:

  • Service providers that host data, process auth, run billing entitlements, or help estimate nutrition, under contracts that limit use to providing services to us. Product analytics events are stored with that same backend host.
  • App stores for purchase validation and refund or cancellation handling on their platform
  • Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the Service

If we ever transfer the business, your information may move with it under continued privacy protections.

5. Retention

We keep account, log, and product analytics data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. You can edit or delete individual logs where the product allows. You may request account deletion via our Delete account page or by contacting us. Product analytics tied to your account is removed with account or data deletion where the backend allows. Some records (for example billing proofs) may be kept as required by law.

6. Your choices

  • Update profile and goal settings in the app
  • Edit or remove meal logs and optional location on a meal
  • Edit or remove workout logs, change or clear your Build, train days, and swapped moves in Settings
  • Turn streaks or location attachment off in Settings
  • Export data where the product supports PDF or CSV export
  • Cancel Gori Plus anytime from Settings or your store account
  • Request full account and data deletion at /delete-account, including product analytics tied to the account where we can identify and remove it

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure. Use a strong password with your sign-in provider and keep your device updated.

8. Children

Gori is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the Service, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

9. International users

The Service may be hosted in countries other than where you live. By using Gori you understand your information may be processed in those locations with appropriate safeguards where required.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy and will revise the date above. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice in the app or on the site.
